A Hideaway for Literary Happenings
If you’re looking for the perfect venue to recite the Latin poems of Catullus with the assistance of a mime, the Press Club is ideal. This subtle bar on Dundas is barely identified by a petite sign and a typewriter in the window. Its microbrews and quiet atmosphere attract locals and an eclectic array of literary happenings. The dress code is comfy sweaters, scarves with moth holes and tams. Have a parrot? Bring it on your shoulder. I’ve seen one there before. Just don’t bring a chatty friend who will gab throughout the Gregorian chant set of an acoustic composer. Trust me, you will receive many scolding stares from behind thick black rimmed glasses.
