This is truly a building with deep character, a bar of many stories.
How do you describe the Gladstone? It’s gone through so many changes in the past 5 years. Well – we know for sure this is where you go to watch crazy Karaoke from the old and new generation Gladstone goers. Of course, this is also where you go to perform – I only ever do Proud Mary – Ike and Tina. Last time I performed – I felt like I was some kind of Vegas star – as I was singing – a man came in off the street, dressed like a 1970’s pimp – in full regalia. He danced behind me as I shook my ass like mad in front of a packed room full of the wildest assortment of drunkards. Karaoke is Thurs, Fri and sat - and on Wednesday’s is the notorious HUMP night. This is a lively lesbian and gay night with kickass music and fun dancing. In fact, it’s so fun that if you aren’t gay, you want to be because everyone looks so cool, excited and happy.
For those of you who are new to the city – the Gladstone is a boutique artist hotel – that has gone a tumultuous change from just years ago, when it was a notorious dank rooming house. Lots of history and controversy surround this Toronto building.
