SDTC: What are the most common mistakes people make when colouring their hair at home and how can they be avoided?

R, S + L: Most consumers do not know that colour does not lift colour. Choosing the wrong colour and application method is also common. As professional stylists we educate the consumer and our clients. If they have any questions they can always contact 1 800 350 3998 to speak to a professional.

What’s the coolest new hair colour trend that we can try at home?

The fashion colours are always fun for any season. What’s in this season is bronde, a trend coming together of two classic shades, brunette and blonde with a fresh spin. You can try using Color ULTîME 6.1 Smoky Brown to achieve that look.

Is there anything we can do in the week leading up to the colour to get our hair as ready and healthy as possible?

A lot of my pals are still a bit wary of colouring their own hair. What can we do to make sure that we get our desired colour, tone and shade right, and that it stays consistent?

Keratin and Color Ultime leverage technologies from the professional Schwarzkopf line. It is important to familiarize yourself with the numbers to find the correct shade. A good universal tool that everyone should use is a scale of 1- 10, 1 being black and 10 being the lightest. What is the shade you want to achieve and can it be done with a single colour application? Colour does not lift previously coloured hair, so it is extremely important to follow the correct application method in the instruction pamphlet to achieve an even hair colour every time.
