The desert dryness tends to creep in this time of year and I’ve been feeling it recently from my flakey hands to my staticky hair. Since there are many of you out there braving the minus-zero windchill on the daily, I thought it would be a good idea to share this quick and easy DIY that I’ve been mixing up since my university days. This all-over body scrub is one part coconut oil* (I’m having a bit of a coconut oil moment, but you can do everything with it! Cook with it, style your hair with it, and now scrub it on your skin). Oh, and the second part is granulated sugar**. Use a 1 to 1 ratio (eg. 1 tbsp of oil, 1 tbsp of sugar) and mix it up in any size batch you like. You can even find some cute jars and give it out as last-minute holiday gifts!
Mix the two ingredients in a small bowl, then scoop some up in your hands and rub it on (preferably) dry skin. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and see the instant results of smooth, coconut-vanilla-cupcake-smelling skin. Mmmm…
*Baby oil can be substituted for coconut oil if you can’t find it
**Brown sugar can be substituted for granulated sugar
