Going out on a Friday night has always been one tradition that I look most forward to in my hectic week. I love nothing more than putting on a fabulous new outfit and hitting the town with my girlfriends. I blast the music, mix a cocktail, and have a dance party while my roommates and I try on countless outfits and get ready for the night. The thing that I love about going out in Toronto is that I never have to worry about being overdressed. I’ve never been a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl, so you can imagine that any opportunity to glam it up is a definite plus for me. For as long as I can remember, I have lived for the art of dressing up. When I was a little girl, I looked forward to any birthday party, or school pageant as an excuse to throw on my favorite party dress and my black patent maryjanes. Now, my style has changed a bit, and I love pairing sleek pencil skirts, or cute tailored shorts with baggy tops, and of course, a pair of the highest heels possible. read more...

This summer a few trends are making their reappearance after a long absence. read more...

In the mid nineties the provocative ck one ad campaigns pronounced that we were all one; man or woman, black or white, gay or straight. The ever so controversial Kate Moss was the face of this bold new perfume that helped promote acceptance through its message, “A fragrance for a man or a woman from Calvin Klein”. Advertisements showed feminine looking men and masculine looking women, amongst an assortment of other types. The campaign was one of the first to overtly tackle sexuality; we have fond memories of discussing in high school media classs. read more...

Since I am a product of the 1980s (albeit 1989), I am more than certified to comment on the big, or rather broad trend for Spring/Summer 2009…SHOULDER PADS!
In January, at fashion shows in Europe, designers presented their Spring/Summer 2009 couture collections, giving us all a little hope that the winter snow will soon thaw and we will be able to leave our houses without layering. Every fashion season seems to be a throwback to another decade, so it should come as no surprise when designers decided to revisit the 1980s. read more...
